Travel like a PRO without that First-Class ticket.

travel like a pro

Who doesn’t want to travel the world with a personal chef on a yacht in Mediterranean or an unlimited number of flights to exotic destinations? Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it? and what fun this would be with the perfect travel buddy… enter HPR.

Realistically, few of us will attain the above luxury – but that shouldn’t hinder us from having anything but a great travel experience. And there’s nothing quite like an HPR to keep you feeling your best on route.

Why take your Recovery Milk with you? Simple: our bodies are surprisingly susceptible to the elements around us. Whether we realize it or not, our bodies experience an undercurrent of stress as our environment changes. Factors such as temperature, duration of travel, sleep, altitude, and jet lag all play a role in our optimal functioning. This is true not only for athletes but everyone. Change on the outside = change on the inside.

When you travel, your immune system is compromised, and you are more susceptible to infections, primarily if you’re used to performing intense training sessions. This does improve as the immune system adjusts to travelling but still puts you at risk of catching something or generally feeling run down during your adventure. So, we need to ensure that whatever we do put in our bodies is boosting it sufficiently to keep those nasty side-effects at bay.

What are some of these pesky travel bummers we may experience? Diarrhoea (travellers’ diarrhoea – yes, it’s a thing), changes to bowel habits (hello constipation), fatigue, nausea and in some cases, vomiting.

GOOD NEWS: HPR is the perfect travel buddy to counter these.

Optimal, improved and well-balanced nutrition looks like the below:

– Ensuring you maintain a sufficient number of calories.

– Paying attention to macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fats).

– Getting in your micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), particularly zinc, iron, Vitamin A, D, E, B6, B12, and folate.

– Polyphenols (flavonoids) contain phytonutrients that have anti-inflammatory benefits whilst protecting your cells from oxidative damage. (For a more in-depth and scientific look at flavonoids, click here:

– Prebiotics.

High-Protein Recovery Milk ticks these boxes.

It also helps you fight off dehydration, loss of electrolytes, and carbohydrate depletion that occurs from higher altitudes. HPR for the win! (It also serves as a refreshing snack when the water is bad, the aeroplane food doesn’t cater for you and when you need to replenish if you’re driving.)

Let’s digress briefly and touch base on jet lag.

Did you know the severity of jet lag depends on the number of time zones crossed? You have less jet lag when travelling westward as this results in a longer day. To minimize jet lag:

– Avoid alcohol as these effects are increased in a pressurized cabin

– Drink lots of water as the air is dry in the cabin

– Bring snacks while travelling – foods can be limited while travelling

– Consume small amounts of carbohydrate-rich foods

– Try to arrive during the day, so you have exposure to daylight

– Try not to sleep during the day

Now that you’re on top of that, let’s jump back into when you arrive. Ideally, I would suggest packing enough HPR for the entire trip and the number of days you have there – at least one HPR per day. And if you’re exercising while there (or walking a lot), one for every night to assist with the retention of lean muscle and promote muscle protein synthesis whilst you sleep. (I mean, how disappointing would it be to be away on a break but lose out on all the hard work you put in before going). Take my advice; the little extra space on the way there means benefits all around.

That sounds like a lot of HPR, but you won’t regret it.

To help you on your way, this month only, we will be giving you a discount on HPR when ordering from our online store:
